Paulownia/Karuba Core — The best compromise between lightness and performance

Made from 20mm wide wood strips along its entire length, this core guarantees superior quality and perfect homogeneity across the whole board.

Paulownia/Karuba is the ideal choice for touring skis, splitboards, and snowboards: a unique combination of lightness, stiffness, and durability. This core requires the use of ABS sidewalls or a rot-resistant hardwood for an optimal finish.

Why Paulownia?

Paulownia is a fast-growing tree, known for its lightness and excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It significantly reduces the weight of the structure while maintaining sufficient rigidity, thus improving handling and reducing skier fatigue—particularly beneficial for ski touring.

More flexible than poplar or ash, it offers, however, better elasticity and efficient energy return. Combined with composite materials such as carbon, flax, Titanal, or fiberglass, it allows for the perfect balance between lightness, stability, and responsiveness.
