ITEM SOLD BY THE LINEAR METER
RUBBER BAND VDS (VIBRATION DAMPING SYSTEM) – 15 mm
Construction elastomer strip used in ski and snowboard sandwich construction, positioned between the steel edge and the fiber reinforcements to improve structural cohesion, grip and vibration damping.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The VDS band is a technical rubber damping element integrated into the structure of skis and snowboards.
It is placed between the metal frame and the layers of composite fibers (glass, carbon, flax).
It is intended to be impregnated with epoxy resin during lamination to ensure its complete integration into the sandwich.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Material: Technical elastomer (VDS)
- Width: 15 mm
- Thickness: 0.2 mm
- Packaging: 70m roll
PROPERTIES
- Improved cohesion between steel and fibers
- Optimizing adhesion in the composite sandwich
- Contribution to vibration damping
- Improved gliding comfort
- Sealing of the structure (protection of the core)
- Reduction of micro-delaminations between materials
IMPLEMENTATION
- To be impregnated with epoxy resin before lamination
- To be positioned directly on the steel square
- Integration during the sandwich pressing phase
INDICATIVE CONSUMPTION
- Skiing: ~8 m per pair
- Snowboard: ~4 m per piece
APPLICATIONS
- Ski construction
- Snowboard construction
- Repair and reinforcement of existing structures
- Composite prototyping
OBSERVATIONS
- Structural element integrated into the sandwich
- Must be correctly positioned to ensure the system's effectiveness
- Direct influence on the dynamic behavior of the ski (damping and stability)
TECHNICAL ADVISORY – ROLE WITHIN THE STRUCTURE
The VDS acts as an interface between materials of different rigidities:
- steel (rigid / hard)
- composite fibers (glass, carbon, flax)
- wood core (flexible / structural)
It allows you to:
- reduce shear stress
- improve the durability of the bond
- stabilize the vibrational behavior
