STEEL SIDE SKI & SNOWBOARD – 1900 mm
Steel edge for the construction of skis, snowboards and monoskis, designed to ensure good grip on the snow and durability in use.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Sandblasted steel square, ready to be glued with epoxy resin onto a 1.2 mm base.
Structural element ensuring mechanical strength and grip on hard snow.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Material: Steel
- Length: 1900 mm
- Compatible sole thickness: 1.2 mm
- Finish: Sandblasted (optimized for epoxy bonding)
- Packaging: sold individually
TERMS OF USE
- Four edges are needed for a pair of skis.
- Two edges are needed for a snowboard
PROPERTIES
- High wear resistance
- Good resistance to breakage
- Excellent grip on hard snow
- Good sliding behavior
- Surface prepared for epoxy bonding
MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR (INDICATIVE)
The squares contribute to the overall behavior of the structure, but in a limited proportion (~9 %), due to their peripheral position in the sandwich.
- Steel modulus of elasticity: E = 210 GPa
- Moment of inertia (1 square): Iz = 1.33 mm⁴
- Reduced moment of inertia: IG = 68.57 mm⁴
- For two squares: (E·I) ≈ 28.80 N·m²
TECHNICAL OBSERVATIONS
- Peripheral structural element of the sandwich
- Real but secondary mechanical influence compared to the nucleus and fibers
- Requires precise positioning during assembly
- Exclusive compatibility with epoxy resins recommended
APPLICATIONS
- Alpine and freeride skis
- Snowboards
- Handcrafted construction and prototyping
BUILDING COUNCIL
The edges primarily ensure:
- cornering grip
- wear resistance
- accuracy on hard snow
