who are we
More than 40 years ago, Philippe BONGINI made his first snowboard and started by climbing a small peak in Queyras (the Gardiole). He put on his machine and after 3-4 first falls, finally managed to chain turns.
There it is, it's over! He is stung to the quick by this feeling which will lead him, later, after many tests and many adventures to become an artisan-shaper by creating CLONE IND in 1996.
There he makes custom competition snowboards for pro riders and a few demanding individuals. Since then, the target has expanded, other products such as skis, splitboards and suspended work equipment have joined the range.
In 1996 he was joined by Ysais who created the brand's first logo, then came the website and custom ski and snowboard designs, it's the reference in this field!
In 2010, Fred ZOLL joined Clone, occasionally working in the workshop but mainly on his favorite playground, Les Arcs. He rode all winter on Clone skis and snowboards and became the team's top technical advisor.
A former competitor and coach, he continues to teach skiing with passion.
CLONE LAB, our R&D workshop, is the crucible where we explore bio-based composite materials as well as materials that withstand the test of time. We work with various fibers: glass, flax, carbon, Kevlar, Dyneema, and polyamide. We also work with different woods: ash, bamboo, black locust, poplar, okoumé, samba, paulownia, and balsa. Finally, we experiment with various decoration processes, including painting with stencils, die-cutting in the sole, and material sublimation.
